A DISHONORABLE ANNIVERSARY

On 30 April 1975, Saigon, the capital of our ally, South Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam), fell to the invading North Vietnamese army. It is 42 years ago today, but it remains a terrible and enduring stain on the honor of America for having abandoned an ally we had pledged to protect and defend. Also, as pointed out last year by Derek Williams, it came 13 days after Phnom Penh fell to the murderous Khmer Rouge when we abandoned our ally in Cambodia.
